Once upon a time...

I was waiting for the speaker to start in my 3D Design course. It sounded like he was about to sell a pitch on a club so I started listening.

"National Art Education Association has amazing opportunities if you are an art education major." He said convincingly as my interest grew.

I needed to join this club as soon as possible, I thought since I was an art education major starting my first year of college. I wanted to have as many opportunities as I could. So I hopped up out of my chair when he was finished and signed up.

That moment was the start of an amazing adventure that led to amazing teaching moments and many leadership roles.

During my time at Kutztown, I have had the pleasure in attending all four KU Art Education Conferences which included a collaboration project with an elementary school near Kutztown. I had the chance to help students create their ideas for their finger puppets and helped them around campus when they visited us during the conference.

I was so fortunate that I had the chance to be on the executive board for NAEA not just once in my time at KU but twice. I was Historian and Social Media chair across three different semesters and help many members in this student chapter. These positions led to attending many events making my experiences grow. Since I was behind the camera during those semesters, new photos were posted after each event on social media sites for all to see. I will forever miss the happiness on students faces during Friday Night Outs when they were about to start new projects and on Main Street during events in the community.

My favorite event was the block party. During that event we had the opportunity to show the community how much we loved teaching art in creative ways. There were times where we painted our hands to create a sunset in a landscape painting connecting the university and squirting paint on a canvas to connect everyone in the community. We then revealed the letters underneath which was used by tape.

The photos on this page are some of the amazing memories I have had during my time in this wonderful and creative student chapter.
